Residing in Taiwan, they work diligently from an old apartment in Taipei, dedicated to the craft of carving and producing stamps. Previously a magazine and book editor in publishing, Chamilgarden is now a full-time stamp designer. Each season, they release handcrafted original stamps, with their collected works published in volumes 1 to 8, featuring over 100 unique stamps. Their published books include "Handmade Life in 12 Hours a Week," "Rubber Stamps, Open the Door!," and "12 Lessons for Beginner Rubber Stamps: Next Stamp Class." Primarily using erasers as the carving material, each stamp is meticulously hand-carved, stroke by stroke. Chamilgarden's stamp designs often merge everyday observations, landscapes and encounters from travels, and beloved objects (such as text, flora, geometry, nature, architecture, etc.). These elements are then deconstructed and reassembled, using layered lines and planes, accented by minimalist primary and secondary lines, foreign text, and frequently noted component symbols to construct the stamp imagery. They enjoy pairing stamps and colors, orchestrating unique solo performances, collaborations, and repetitions among various stamp sizes. Much of their graphic design work is derived from snippets of these stamps, extended through printing and arrangement (for items like postcards and washi tape).
