For calligraphy nibs, it is recommended to start by dipping the nib in ink for writing. (Please do not remove the converter installed inside the pen barrel to prevent ink backflow into the pen body after writing.) After a period of use and familiarization with the nib's characteristics, you may then use the converter for filling ink. 2. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib that has been ground and adjusted to have a curved, arc-shaped tip. Line width variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by the angle at which the pen is held, utilizing the nib's curvature. Holding the pen more upright, with less contact area between the nib and paper, produces finer lines. As the pen angle becomes more oblique or with slight pressure, the contact area increases, resulting in thicker lines. The ability to write both thick and thin lines depends on your proficiency.
