1950s-60s French Vintage BCG Treraid Round-Tipped Dip Pen Nib Set - 13 Different Sizes

The Treraid series of round-tipped nibs, produced by the French company Blanzy, were once a bestseller. The available sizes included 1/4mm, 1/2mm, 3/4mm, 1mm, 1 1/4mm, 1 1/2mm, 2mm, 2 1/2mm, 3mm, 3 1/2mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm. While individual nibs or small sets of different sizes occasionally appear on the secondary market, it's highly unusual to find all 13 distinct sizes together. In the past, similar sets were released, often for in-store display (note the cardboard packaging shows line samples for each nib size). I was fortunate to acquire one such set and am sharing photos for your appreciation. This offering includes only the thirteen different nibs. During the 1950s and 1960s, many students and art creators in France favored these nibs for their smooth writing experience and generous ink flow, which made writing exceptionally easy. They offered a smooth glide for English, Japanese, and Chinese scripts. The nibs themselves are crafted from thick stainless steel, ensuring durability. The ink reservoirs are original factory-made, designed to stay securely attached, and can be easily reinserted if accidentally dislodged. The materials used, including thicker plating and metal, also contribute to rust resistance. For nibs 3.5mm and larger, the ink output is greater, leading to a revised design of the upper ink reservoir with fewer openings to enhance ink adhesion. Additionally, an ink reservoir was added to the underside of the nib to increase ink capacity and further improve writing fluidity. (Nibs 3.5mm and larger were priced higher than their finer counterparts, like the 3mm.) (This is a discontinued vintage item, not a modern reproduction. Available while supplies last.) (The nibs are new old stock from that era, never used, but may show minor signs of age. Each will be inspected before shipping, and items with significant flaws will not be sent. Please refrain from purchasing if this is a concern.) Important Usage Notes: 1. No pre-heating or scrubbing with a toothbrush is required before use. If the nib comes into contact with hand oils, a mild neutral cleanser (like hand soap) is recommended for cleaning. 2. Some nibs may have horizontal or vertical scuff marks on the tip. These were intentionally made by the factory before sale to ensure immediate usability upon purchase and are not defects. 3. If oil or wax from paper causes poor ink adhesion or flow (e.g., from touching with hands or paper coatings), simply wash gently with soap, dry thoroughly, and it will be ready for use. 4. Clean and dry the nibs as soon as possible after use, and allow them to air dry before storing to prevent rust. 5. Minor rust on the pen body does not affect writing performance, but rust on the nib itself will. 6. As these are vintage items over 50 years old, some signs of age are inevitable. Occasionally, there may be slight rust at the very end of the nib's tail, but this does not affect the writing tip or quality.
