The works from Xiao Ping Fan Pottery do not pursue mass production. Each creation possesses a unique conceptual design, imbuing the process of pure hand-pinching or wheel-throwing with life. Every piece is one-of-a-kind. Our pottery works are created together by us as a couple, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan." Some pieces may also bear the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery" stamp. Truly unique!!

**1. What is the origin of the work?**
We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Taiwanese Miaoli clay for our creations.

**2. What is the wood-firing process?**
American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are kneaded in various proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-pinching (not a pottery wheel) to gradually form the shape. After basic shaping, the body lines are refined, then polished to complete the greenware.
Once loaded into the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous wood-firing process using natural longan wood and acacia wood. The temperature is raised to over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this process, natural ash deposits adhere to the pieces, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the fire marks within the kiln flow around the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame traces.
After five days and four nights of ash and fire marks intermingling, a week of cooling is required before a piece achieves its beautiful form! Due to the varying kiln atmosphere during each wood-firing, the ash deposits and fire marks on each piece will differ, making every piece uniquely one-of-a-kind!

**3. What should guests be aware of?**
Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As pieces are entirely handmade, they will inevitably bear traces of the crafting process. Minor variations may also occur during firing, such as slight imperfections in the rim or minor crafting scratches, which are normal and do not affect usability. Your understanding is greatly appreciated!
