About Crazing After firing, pottery shrinks as it cools in the kiln. At this time, cracks called crazing appear in the glaze layer due to the difference in the shrinkage rate between the base and the glaze. Even after the pottery is removed from the kiln, the base reacts with the water vapor in the air and expands little by little, causing crazing in the vitrified glaze, which is less likely to expand. If the crazing area is immersed in water, a spot-like pattern may appear, but this is because the water has soaked into the base and will become less noticeable once it dries. There is no need to worry about water leakage, so please use it with confidence.
