The "Groblad" series was available in gentle color variations such as blue, brown, light blue, and green. The design was created by Barbro Löfgren-Örtendahl (バルブロ・ラフグレン=オルテンダール), who left behind many works inspired by plants and nature. The series name "Groblad" means plantain in Swedish. In Northern Europe, the plantain is a very familiar wild herb, known as a simple yet resilient plant that grows quietly by roadsides and in grasslands, continuing to grow even when stepped upon. The design expresses the plantain's leaves and flower spikes with a composition that values negative space and deep blue colors. Although it is a plant motif, the repetition of shapes and the rhythm of their placement create a quiet sense of unity, reminiscent of geometric patterns. The decoration is applied using underglaze printing, where the pattern is applied to the unglazed clay and then fired under glaze. The subtle variations in ink density, slight misalignments of lines, and blurring from firing add a gentle impression. The saucer is unified in a similar shade of blue, creating a beautiful contrast with the cup. The overall impression is one of calm and cohesive elegance.
