The Purple-Day Gray butterfly is a subspecies endemic to Taiwan, also known as the "Red-bordered Yellow Small Gray butterfly" due to its wing coloration. The underside of its wings is yellowish-brown, with orange wavy patterns along the edges. It is commonly found from plains to low-altitude mountainous areas. The larvae feed on *Polygonum chinense* (fire-charcoal grass), and adult butterflies can be seen year-round. They are fond of sipping nectar from wildflowers along roadsides and are quite abundant. The wings are dusted with silver powder, creating a shimmering effect as they gracefully flutter by your ear. Total length approximately 2.9cm.
