→ About the Artist
I've known Teacher Hsu for about eight or nine years. I remember when he first walked into my café, a youthful innocence still evident on his face – a truly fine young man.
Our relationship evolved from a stranger, to a regular, and then to a friend. I’ve also watched him grow from student to teacher. I attended his graduation exhibition at Bopiliao Historical Block, and it was truly remarkable! Even now, the background image on my phone is that whale. If you have the chance, you must visit Yilan to see his ceramic whale sculpture in person. It's incredibly lifelike, and the work expresses his concern for environmental ecology and his personal journey of growth. The island of Taiwan carried on its back signifies his hopes and frustrations for this land. So many of his thoughts and spirit are presented in that series of works; it’s truly exceptional.
Each piece is a labor of love from the artist. From the glaze to the form, every detail is the result of careful consideration. And practicality is an element Teacher Hsu prioritizes above all else. "Functional pottery" is a phrase that frequently comes from Teacher Hsu's lips!
The bottom of each vessel features Teacher Hsu's handwritten seal, the character "嘉" (Chia) in official script. Each stroke conveys his dedication to his craft and his passion for pottery.
I hope we can all continue to improve, and that the world can find peace and stability. I also hope our friends who appreciate our work will continue to support us. Let's keep moving forward together.

* Most products in this design hall are purely handmade, and the glaze or ash-fall on each piece will vary. This is precisely the charm of ceramic art. Therefore, once a piece is sold out, it will not be restocked, and you won't find an identical item. If a piece you love is purchased by someone else, we regret that you will need to choose from other works in our design hall. We apologize for any inconvenience. You are welcome to contact the designer to see if a similar piece is available.
* Dimensions are measured by hand and may have a margin of error of up to 0.5 cm.
* Pieces may exhibit some marks from the crafting process, as they are handmade or semi-handmade. These are normal indications of the creation process.
* During the firing process, the glaze may exhibit natural distribution phenomena, which is entirely normal and a characteristic emphasized by NATURE GLAZE. Ceramics are inherently natural. If you have any questions about the product, please send us a private message.
* Product images are taken in a studio with adjusted lighting and environment, but no post-production editing is used. Please refer to the actual product color, as discrepancies will not be considered defects.

We established our roots in Yilan City in 2019, with a physical space offering coffee, tea, handmade pottery sales, and classes.
Adhering to the philosophy that "craftsmanship" is "usable art," we take an opposite approach in this fast-paced, disposable era. Through the slow and time-consuming craft of handmade pottery, we aim to help people rediscover aesthetics in their lives and reconnect with the beauty within their hearts.
