The Mekong River, located in the lower reaches of the Lancang River, is the most important transnational water system in Southeast Asia. It originates in the Tibetan area. The Lancang River flows for hundreds of kilometers and eventually enters Laos and Myanmar, a vast body of water. The morning mist covered the water like a veil, the jungle maintained a vague outline in the distance, and the old man's boat moved slowly on the river, as if time was not in a hurry here. Occasionally, ripples appear on the water surface, which are the waves of some thoughts, or just a fish silently breaking the tranquility. The old fisherman sat at the bow, holding a cigarette in his mouth, staring at the water. He seemed to be waiting for some unspeakable signal, or maybe just staring at the water in a daze. The boat was swaying up and down, and it was difficult for us to see his eyes clearly. The old man's skin was baked dark by the sun, and wrinkles were carved into his face, just like the traces of time left by rivers on the earth. He would occasionally pull the line back to check the bait on the hook, then lower the hook again, repeating the action over and over again. The sound of the line splashing into the water could still be heard clearly over the flowing river. "fish?" The old man muttered carelessly. The sun gradually rose higher and the fog dissipated, but the sky was still gray. The boat continued to rock on the river, like a story without an ending, swaying gently on the water, and we heard the splash of the harpoon hitting the water.
