Daphne H.C. Shen is an artist based in London, whose greatest joy lies in creation. Even amidst a demanding work schedule, she steadfastly pursues her passion for art and continues to create. Daphne has long struggled with insomnia, and she channels her creative energy to express the myriad thoughts that occupy her mind. Throughout her creative process, she consistently challenges herself with each piece, resulting in works that exhibit distinct styles across different periods. Yet, these diverse styles powerfully convey the clashes, conflicts, and contradictions within her own personality. Finding it difficult to articulate herself directly, she hopes her artwork can communicate who she is. This piece, <A Cuddle>, was inspired by a story she heard. The story goes: Swans live in pairs; if one is lost, the other cannot survive. She found the narrative both poignant and romantic, which led her to depict these shy yet blissful swans, hoping to inspire everyone to love bravely and to cherish being loved.
