The term was coined in 1947 but has generally been supplanted since 1952 by the United States Air Force term unidentified flying objects (or UFOs for short). 🔎 An unidentified flying object (UFO) is any aerial phenomenon that cannot immediately be identified or explained. 🔎 The term "UFO" (or "UFOB") was coined in 1953 by the United States Air Force (USAF) to serve as a catch-all for all such reports.
