This scarf is first plant-dyed with mahogany for the base color, then overdyed with persimmon dye, resulting in a deep and understated coffee tone. The interplay of different plant dyes creates subtle, layered pattern variations, with colors naturally forming throughout the dyeing process. Crafted from 100% cotton fabric, it offers a soft and skin-friendly touch. It can be used as a scarf or a shawl, perfect for everyday wear and versatile styling. Entirely hand-dyed, each scarf exhibits slight differences in color and texture, showcasing the inimitable natural beauty of plant dyeing. Current stock is limited. [About the Studio] Alupalan, the native Taiwanese persimmon tree, is the healthiest and most natural dye material at our Alupalan Dye Tribe studio. The bark is dried and boiled to create dye liquid; leaves are used for hammer dyeing; and fermented fruit serves as a material for brush dyeing. The entire tree is utilized – Alupalan is our most natural and precious gift. Alupalan dyeing requires a lengthy conversion and fixing process. Only after the natural colors stabilize are the materials processed into products. The transformation is influenced by temperature and humidity, ensuring each finished product is unique and radiates natural beauty. For other plant dyes, we use Fukien tea wood for yellow, camphor wood for red, and indigo for blue.
