Chen Xuan-Heng is a Taiwanese ceramic artist renowned for his wood-fired pottery and his brand "Xuan Tea Ware." He founded "Zhuo Yun Yue Heng Studio," dedicated to the handcrafted creation of ceramic pieces such as tea ware, vases, and incense holders.
Artistic Style and Philosophy
Chen Xuan-Heng's work emphasizes the natural expression of handfeel and brushstrokes, enhanced by diverse textural decorations. This approach allows the ash layers formed during the wood-firing process to create rich variations, showcasing a beauty where nature and humanity converge. His "Sea Rhyme Series" tea bowls, inspired by ocean waves, capture the layers and dynamism of the sea.
Beyond his ceramic artistry, Chen Xuan-Heng is passionate about self-learning and playing the traditional Okinawan instrument, the "Sanshin." He frequently shares videos of himself playing and singing on social media, demonstrating his love for Okinawan music.
