A Glimpse of Memory My fondness for walnut shortbread cookies stems from my grandmother. They were her favorite treat, a taste of cherished memories. A small neighborhood store sold them in packs of six for 40 NTD. She would carefully take out a folded, worn 50 NTD bill from her coin purse. I'd eagerly volunteer to buy them for her, knowing the change would be enough for a pack of Doublemint gum. Her coin purse was old and small, its patterns faded.
