These have been carefully selected and do not affect the overall aesthetic. Please consider carefully if you are a perfectionist! Store Manager's Note: It's all about serendipity. By chance, three pieces of Taiwanese lightning-struck Yellow Hinoki wood came into my possession. As lightning strikes from the center, you can see from the photos that the areas suitable for making beads are very limited. Furthermore, the lightning strike was so severe that many internal areas have cracks and burn marks. These sections cannot be used for bead material. The finished products you receive are truly a minority of complete pieces of Hinoki wood that could be used for bead crafting, making them incredibly precious. Please cherish them! Taiwanese Hinoki is world-renowned, but lightning striking Hinoki is also a rare occurrence. This piece has been stored for several years, and I only recently acquired it. While it may not be as ancient as thousand-year-old Antrodia camphor, it is still a Hinoki tree over two hundred years old with a diameter exceeding 40cm! The wood grain of the beads made this time is exceptionally beautiful, with lustrous grain patterns and rich oiliness. The scent is, of course, superb. Most importantly, it's lightning-struck Hinoki, which is exceptionally effective at warding off evil! This is also a limited edition. Once sold out, it will be gone forever! Product Dimensions (Customization for wrist size is currently not available): Design 8mm Hand Beads (12 beads): Features design 10*14mm barrel beads (6 beads). Inner circumference approximately 15cm, suitable for wrist sizes 14-15cm. 10mm Hand Beads (20 beads): Inner circumference approximately 16cm, suitable for wrist sizes 15-16cm. 12mm Hand Beads (18 beads): Inner circumference approximately 17.5cm, suitable for wrist sizes 15-17.5cm. About Hinoki Wood: Taiwan's naturally growing Hinoki cypress is typically divided into Red Hinoki and Yellow Hinoki. Yellow Hinoki grows at higher latitudes than Red Hinoki, has thicker bark, and green leaves. Its fragrance is more intense. Taiwan's Hinoki is of excellent quality due to abundant rainfall and high humidity, resulting in rich oil content and beautiful wood grain. Research by the Council of Agriculture has confirmed that Taiwanese Hinoki, without anti-corrosive (formaldehyde) treatment, has a natural mold resistance rate of over 90%. It exhibits stable shrinkage rates, making it highly resistant to cracking. Botanical and medical experts worldwide, through various experiments, have identified natural components like Rhodinic acid and phytoncides. Notably, the component Hinokitiol, found exclusively in Taiwanese Hinoki, can purify air, deodorize, relieve stress, and promote relaxation. About Lightning-Struck Wood: For individuals sensitive to energy or with spiritual inclinations, lightning-struck wood offers a comfortable sensation of smooth electrical flow throughout the body, without any sharpness or discomfort. However, entities with impure energies will dislike its power (explained below). Lightning-struck wood, also known as "evil-warding wood," is the supreme divine wood in Taoist sorcery. The book "Wan Fa Gui Zong" lists it as the foremost sacred wood for crafting magical implements. While it is commonly believed today that lightning-struck wood is primarily used in Taoism due to its prominence in recent centuries, its use was actually mentioned in Buddhist scriptures over 2500 years ago concerning the creation of Vajras. For instance, in the "Dharani Sutra," Volume 2, it discusses the making of a five-pronged Vajra: "Heartwood of a lightning-struck date tree (i.e., wood struck by lightning) may be used. Before making the Vajra, it is necessary to pre-chant for the copper and other materials one hundred and eight times..." The "Susiddhi Sutra" describes the making of a Vajra: "For Vajra matters, use wood burned by heavenly fire (i.e., lightning). Be it a Chinaberry tree, white sandalwood, or rosewood. Take any of these woods and carve a three-pronged Vajra. When performing Homa rituals or chanting, hold it in the left hand. It can accomplish all tasks, hence it is called Vajra." The "Jingyou Liu Ren Shen Ding Jing," Volume 2, under "Explanation of Making Diagrams, Chapter 30," states: "'Xuan Nu said: The method of making diagrams uses the 'maple child' as heaven. 'Maple child' refers to a separate branch of a maple tree that grows sideways, appearing aligned with the parent tree from afar but at a different height up close. It also uses the heartwood of a date tree as the earth, symbolizing the yang aspect of heaven and earth. Maple is the essence of many trees. Date is the servant of all trees. Among spiritual things, none surpass these.' The 'Annotation on the Laws of Thunder God's Killing' states: 'There are three types of diagrams. In terms of wood, lightning-struck date heartwood (i.e., wood struck by lightning) is superior, sandalwood is intermediate, and persimmon wood is inferior. If lightning-struck date heartwood is unavailable, an old axle can also be used, but select a good one...'" It is evident that both Buddhist and Taoist traditions highly value the use of lightning-struck wood, with its heartwood being the most superior. Why is lightning-struck wood so highly regarded? It is likely related to deities like the Thunder God and Lightning Mother who control lightning. Expert research articles such as "A Study of the Thunder God and Lightning Mother" exist. The Thunder God is a deity of justice; he does not strike those who do good but rather strikes down demons or evil people who violate heavenly laws. This is also documented in the "Lei Gong Cuo Sha Lü" in the "History of Song." It can be seen that the Thunder God strikes not merely due to the physical need for electrical discharge but according to established laws. This principle is widely known, even to the point where people often curse wrongdoers by saying, "May the heavens strike them with lightning!" In ancient times, when interacting with nature, people gradually recognized the powerful energy imbued in lightning-struck wood after being struck by lightning. This energy could expel evil, reward good, and amplify magical abilities to their utmost. Therefore, lightning-struck wood has been secretly sought after by practitioners since ancient times to harness its spiritual power and enhance their own abilities. Wearing it not only protects against the approach of malevolent energies but also brings auspiciousness and good fortune, leading ancient people to treasure it as a valuable item. Identifying Lightning-Struck Wood: (I) External Burn Marks: Check for signs of being struck by lightning. Typically, lightning-struck wood will have broken branches and scorched marks from the strike. (II) Energy Sensing: All lightning-struck wood possesses electrical energy. After taking the wood, one can use touch, energy pathways, or other abilities to sense if it emits electrical energy. Lightning-struck wood has detectable energy; sensitive parts of the body may experience sensations like heat, tingling, or swelling. (III) Lightning Grain Identification: All lightning-struck wood has "lightning grains." Identifying these grains is difficult and usually requires instruction from an experienced master. Most people find them hard to distinguish. These three points should be used in conjunction. Relying solely on human sensing to determine if wood is lightning-struck is extremely erroneous. A practitioner who has achieved a certain level of skill can project internal energy onto any object, causing it to feel warm, tingly, or swollen. This cannot definitively confirm it as lightning-struck wood versus an object enhanced by projected energy. Therefore, judging lightning-struck wood cannot depend solely on sensation; it must be combined with the above three methods for accurate identification. This refers to the wooden part of naturally growing trees that has been struck by lightning, such as lightning-struck jujube, peach, willow, or poplar wood. The protective function of lightning-struck wood stems from the energy of the lightning. Lightning-struck wood can be used to craft magical implements for praying for clear skies, summoning rain, commanding the three realms, summoning spirits, slaying demons and expelling evil, dispatching officials, purifying souls, sending away wandering spirits, authorizing talismans, protecting homes, treating illnesses, and eliminating pestilence. Legend has it that among the common people in Northeast China, lightning-struck wood is widely believed to be split by heavenly lightning and deeply feared by ghosts, making it the most potent artifact for warding off evil. This is because the information from the Thunder God and Lightning Mother, who seal spiritual entities, remains embedded in the lightning-struck wood, exerting a powerful deterrent effect on spirits, making it a potent artifact for home protection. Some folk shamans and spiritual mediums also fear lightning-struck wood, as many of their "possessions" are low-level spirits such as vengeful ghosts, foxes, snakes, and weasels. Common folk believe that large trees struck down by lightning possess protective properties. Because lightning has already driven away ghosts and demons from the tree, other malevolent entities dare not approach it upon seeing it. Therefore, in Northeast China, people often thread a piece of lightning-struck wood onto a rope and wear it on a child's wrist or hang it around their neck, believing this will prevent the child from being "possessed."
