Using natural plant-based dyes for traditional tanning, this specialized process allows the leather to be evenly colored from the inside out. No edge finishing is required; a light polish reveals a natural luster. The reverse side of the leather is also smoother and more durable. The traditional waxed edge finishing technique is employed. Care Instructions Natural cowhide, much like human skin, may show scars or lines from its growth process, which is what makes each natural leather product unique. Wipe the bag with a dry cloth or dust it with a soft brush. Apply maintenance oil to a clean cotton cloth first (avoid applying oil directly to the leather, which can cause uneven absorption and clog pores), then gently spread it in a circular motion. A thin layer that provides a subtle sheen is sufficient. Let it rest overnight, then use a clean cloth to remove any excess oil that has been absorbed and to even out the finish. Leather fading will occur to a certain extent, but after a few uses, the color will stabilize and no longer fade. Genuine leather is sensitive to humidity and moisture (except for our water-resistant series). If you have particularly sweaty feet, or in rainy or humid environments, color transfer may occur. We recommend pairing with similarly colored or dark clothing and avoiding light-colored garments to prevent noticeable marks. If the bag accidentally gets wet, place it in a cool, well-ventilated area to dry completely before storing. Storing leather in a dust bag or closet while still damp can damage it (e.g., cause mold or peeling). We also recommend airing it out every three months, perhaps alongside a dehumidifier. Genuine leather, like human skin, requires regular maintenance and moisturizing to retain its oils and prevent cracking.
