Burmese Copper Alloy Dhamma Curse Beads - Cross Geometric Pattern - Diameter 1.2-1.5 cm - 7 pieces

These curse beads originate from Burmese Buddhist temples and pagodas. Crafted from copper alloy, they are solid cast using a mold. The exact year of creation is unknown, but it is estimated to be from the 19th to 20th century. After arriving in Taiwan, they have been cleaned to remove oxidation. The beads appear bright yellow in photographs, but they will naturally oxidize and darken again if not maintained. The alloy composition contains gold, though in small proportions. Cinnabar was also melted and incorporated during the refining process. Due to their strong magnetic field, they are believed to suppress evil spirits and other negative entities. They are considered excellent protective, barrier-creating, and lucky amulets. They have also been used in foundation laying and for creating protective boundaries. Currently, some individuals use them for spiritual practices and meditation. Placing them in a Buddhist altar or in a car is thought to enhance the Feng Shui and magnetic field. This set includes 7 beads of varying sizes. The base diameter ranges from approximately 1.2 cm to 1.5 cm. Each bead is drilled, allowing them to be strung into prayer beads for wearing. They are suitable for carrying as a personal charm, attaching to a waistband, or incorporating into a keychain or phone accessory as a lucky protective amulet. Even after exploring numerous websites of Burmese collectors on Facebook, which feature artifacts like Buddha statues, wooden beads, ancient beads, jewelry, and opium weights, no information regarding Dhamma curse beads could be found. This suggests that Dhamma curse beads are exceptionally unique and rare. Currently, only three interpretations have been obtained from fellow dealers in Taiwan, offered here for reference: The first interpretation, from a dealer in northern Taiwan, suggests they represent Mercury charms. The second interpretation, according to a dealer of these curse beads, indicates they are astrological symbols representing celestial bodies such as the sun and moon. The third interpretation, a reasoned deduction by a dealer in central Taiwan, posits that these might be the initial letters of an ancient Burmese script, carrying profound and special meanings.
