During the firing process, elements like potassium, sodium, and calcium from the wood ash combine with mineral elements in the clay at high temperatures, creating natural ash glaze deposits on the pottery. Wood firing reaches temperatures above 1300°C, where the fusion of clay and fire allows colors to flow and transform in wondrous ways. The mug body develops a thin layer of natural ash glaze, showcasing transitions from orange-brown to grayish-olive fire marks. The imprint at the base, slightly carbonized at high temperatures, retains the unique rustic texture of wood firing. The pieces are unglazed, tempered by the prolonged journey through fire, revealing natural ash glaze, fire marks, fly ash glaze, and scorched earth textures. Each is a unique, irreplicable piece.
