Variegated Haworthia cuspidata, *Haworthia cuspidata var.*, is a succulent belonging to the Asphodelaceae family, Haworthia genus, native to South Africa. Mature plants are petite and charming. While common "everyday succulents," variegated Haworthia cuspidata boast exceptionally striking leaf patterns that are truly captivating.
Variegated Haworthia cuspidata thrives in warm, humid, and partially shaded environments. It prefers soft sunlight or partial shade, is drought-tolerant, dislikes extreme heat, and is not cold-hardy. Spring and autumn are its growing seasons. With appropriate sunlight, avoiding direct exposure, and sufficient water, the leaves will appear plumper, showcasing plump, highly transparent windows.
Understanding Variegation
Variegation refers to color changes in a plant's stem, leaves, or other parts. For instance, a plant that is normally green may develop variegation, displaying white, yellow, pink, or pale green patterns from the center or edges of its leaves. Most variegations are not a complete color change but affect only portions of the leaf or stem. Compared to their non-variegated counterparts, these plants offer a greater variety of colors and are more visually appealing, thus becoming quite popular. Variegation is common, often triggered by external factors like watering, sunlight, temperature, medication, or sudden climate changes, as well as genetic predispositions. However, variegated succulents have their own characteristics; they can be propagated through cuttings or leaf cuttings, and sometimes, variegated plants may revert to their normal color (known as atavism), introducing further unpredictability.
Another characteristic of variegation is the reduction or loss of chlorophyll, the primary pigment for photosynthesis. This diminishes the plant's ability to absorb energy from sunlight, causing variegated succulents to grow much slower and have significantly reduced reproductive capabilities compared to their normal varieties. Some succulents may develop entirely white variegations, akin to albinism, and eventually perish due to the lack of chlorophyll for photosynthesis.
Variegation is generally categorized into yellow, white, and pink types. Yellow variegation is the most common, followed by white, with pink being the rarest.
Variegated Haworthia cuspidata is a special variegated variety. The variegation patterns on each plant differ, and they are shipped randomly! If you have specific requirements, please email us to request photos of available stock.
Light
Variegated Haworthia cuspidata loves light. It should typically be kept in a bright, partially shaded location away from direct sunlight to maintain its emerald-green, transparent, and endearing appearance. If kept in too dark an environment, the plant's form will become loose and less compact, with elongated leaves and poor window transparency. It is quite sensitive to sunlight; excessive light can hinder leaf growth, causing them to turn a reddish-brown hue.
Watering
With their plump, fleshy leaves capable of storing significant moisture, Haworthia cuspidata do not require frequent watering. During the growing season, water approximately every 2-3 days, keeping the soil moderately moist. During hot summer months, when the plant enters dormancy, it's best to provide shade and reduce watering.
Soil
Variegated Haworthia cuspidata prefers fertile, well-draining sandy soil. A suitable mix typically consists of peat moss (leaf mold), vermiculite, and perlite.
Spring & Autumn Care
Spring and autumn are the peak growing seasons. Maintain moist soil and apply a diluted solution of compound fertilizer monthly.
Summer Care
During high summer temperatures, Haworthia cuspidata plants enter a dormant or semi-dormant state. Reduce watering and provide partial shade. Misting the soil surface can help lower the temperature, as high humidity combined with heat can easily lead to rot.
Winter Care
Generally, provide ample sunlight to variegated Haworthia cuspidata during winter, maintaining temperatures above 10°C (50°F).
📝 Key Takeaways: Partial shade, bright indirect light, water every 2-3 days in winter, controlled watering during summer dormancy.

⚠️ Custom orders require approximately 5-7 days for molding, drying, demolding, and finishing. Please do not order custom items if you need them urgently. Only available in-stock items can be purchased for immediate needs.
⚠️ Note: Due to the nature of pure handmade cement casting, minor air bubbles and pores are inevitable. Each pot possesses unique textures, patterns, pores, and surface imperfections that do not affect its structural integrity; we consider these part of the design. If you are particularly concerned about variations in the appearance of cement products, please consider carefully or inquire via message before making a purchase. Items are non-returnable once sold. Thank you!
⚠️ If sufficient stock is available, you may message us to request photos and select your preferred design from our collection of cement creations.
