Japan Coin Pen No. 28 Post-War GHQ Era Flexible Nib, Rare

Japan from 1945-1952 was under the administration of the Allied Powers, a period known as the GHQ (General Headquarters) era, established to rebuild Japan's post-war order. Following the outbreak of the Korean War, Japan was closely supported with industrial development and mass production of materials to meet Allied demands. This was a crucial time for Japan's industrial recovery, and nibs produced then are relatively rare. The Coin Pen No. 28 Japanese Flexible Nib is marked "Made in Occupied Japan" and "Compass Pen" on the nib itself. However, the paper box refers to it as Coin Pen. The box shows an attempt to mimic Western pen packaging, using a somewhat coarse paper, suggesting it is an early post-war piece. The nib is made of alloy. Due to age, some nibs may show slight oxidation marks, but not rust. The nib is smoother and less scratchy than typical Japanese nibs, with excellent flexibility. It allows for line variation with minimal pressure, making it ideal for English calligraphy and handwriting. With a little care, it can also be used for Chinese writing. The writing sample in the photos was done with a new pen, without any breaking-in or wiping. It exhibits good ink flow and minimal scratching, and is expected to become even smoother with regular use.
