I had painted a tree with small birds, and at that time, a friend commissioned a custom piece, hoping it could be changed to feature cats. I looked it up, and indeed, wild cats do climb trees. Cats on the tree are so endearing; I hope to learn freedom and happiness from them myself. ✤ A Little Note ✤ Because I wanted to capture the dazzling sunlight, with the tree and cats bathed in its radiant embrace, the gilded area is nearly full-bleed, with intentionally hand-drawn foil lines before being scanned into the computer to create the stamping plate. I experimented with five or six types of gold. Ultimately, because the artwork itself was already so rich, I decided to use a matte silver, akin to white light, to represent the play of light.
