Crafted from a slightly coarse white earthenware, its texture is delightfully rustic, characteristic of pottery. The crystalline glaze develops a rich, warm golden-yellow color. This small dish is a fusion of these two elements. Measuring approximately 13cm in diameter, it’s a size that’s a bit larger than a typical mame-zara (small bean dish) and a bit smaller than a standard ko-zara (small plate). It serves beautifully as a side dish plate, a dessert plate, or for presenting small portions of dishes like dressed tofu or braised burdock root, and also functions wonderfully as a condiment dish. The deep golden-yellow color, which evokes the earthiness of the material, harmonizes particularly well with ingredients born from the soil. We invite you to enjoy it with a variety of foods. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering a charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the exact one shown in the product images. To ensure it is gentle on your table, the base of the dish has been smoothed with sandpaper. I continuously explore new combinations of various glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of pottery in different colors and forms. To address this, we apply a food-safe sealant to all our tableware before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking (mezame). This sealing process requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the sealant applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - We strive to capture and edit product images to accurately represent the actual item.
