Crafted from a simple white earthenware clay that imparts a rustic warmth, characteristic of pottery. This rounded teacup is a harmonious blend of a lustrous white glaze and three other glazes that evoke the colors of spring. During firing, the elements within each glaze react, creating flowing, unique patterns. With its comfortably plump and endearing form, this teacup nestles perfectly in the hands, its curves fitting naturally into the palms. The interior's primary white color allows the inherent hues of transparent beverages, such as sencha or hojicha, to be fully appreciated. The cheerful spring-hued patterns on this slightly ornate vessel beautifully enhance both the vibrant green of sencha and the warm, roasted tones of hojicha. Its wide shape also makes it versatile beyond beverages; it can serve as a small bowl for dishes like dressed greens or tofu, or as a dessert dish for puddings and jellies. All stages of production—from clay preparation and shaping to bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously completed by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own distinct character, offering a unique charm that comes from being handmade. The item you receive will be the one shown in the product images. The base of the vessel has been carefully sanded to minimize scratching your tabletop. I continuously explore new combinations of glazes and clays, striving to create pottery in a variety of colors and forms. In some cases, colors may seep into crazing, or moisture might gradually emerge. To address this, our shop applies a water-stopping treatment using a sealant specifically for tableware before shipping, making pre-soaking (me-bushi) unnecessary. This treatment requires 2-3 days, which is why our shipping window is set at 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the water-stopping treatment applied, please inform us at the time of your purchase. - Product images are edited to be as true to the actual item as possible. However, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and ambient lighting. Please be aware of this beforehand. - As this item is also sold on other platforms, in the rare event of simultaneous purchases, the item will be allocated to the customer who completes the purchase process first.
