→ Soda Firing Soda firing is a high-temperature ceramic firing technique where soda is introduced into a kiln at high temperatures. The soda vaporizes and reacts chemically with the clay components of the ceramic body, creating a unique and varied glassy glaze surface on the piece. Soda firing can produce a rich variety of surfaces, such as orange peel textures, shimmers, smooth finishes, and even crackling. Each piece possesses a unique beauty due to the kiln's atmosphere and the random distribution of the soda. This soda firing was done by the Yun Sen Tao Tao Studio on Yangmingshan for us. The size is compatible with our Maze Dripper, and you can choose to purchase them together. The straight cylindrical body not only conveys a sense of sleekness and directness but also provides a large, flat surface that fully showcases the characteristics of various glaze colors, allowing you to appreciate the unique qualities of each glaze. The flared rim, a traditional cup form that has existed since ancient times, is designed not only for aesthetics but also for comfortable drinking. This slightly outward-curving rim perfectly fits the lips, allowing you to feel the beverage glide smoothly into your mouth as you sip. The square handle is also a traditional design. We've modified the traditional square handle design, using a line that is flat on top and slanted at the bottom, offering a distinct visual profile. The square ear handle is also very comfortable to hold. Our Fang Yun cup, with a moderate capacity of 240ml, is highly versatile for brewing tea or single-serve coffee drip bags. A small detail we've added is a crease line on the inner wall at approximately the 200ml mark, providing a simple way to gauge the volume and making it more intuitive to use. In this design, the large, flat vertical surface of the cup wall allowed the artisans to be more creative with the glazes.
