**About the Artist: Xie Zhong-Ren**
Born in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County in 1973.
Began learning jade carving in Taipei in 1988.
Studied Advertising Design in vocational school in 1993, integrating design concepts into his work.
Established his own studio in 1994.
2000: Awarded an honorable mention in the Craft category at the 14th Sanying Art Exhibition for "Poised to Strike." Participated in a joint jade exhibition at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2001: Invited to the Hualien International Art Festival's local creation section for live carving demonstrations.
2002: Awarded an honorable mention at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition (Dream of Craft). Exhibited in a joint jade exhibition at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau. Participated in a joint exhibition of jade and Luoxi stone carvings at the Changhua County "Flower and Tree Carnival." Invited to participate in the "Stone Grand View Garden" exhibition organized by the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Foundation and the Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau, with exhibitions in northern, central, and southern Taiwan from October to December.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecosystem Charm" at the "Taitung Local Craft Exhibition" in the Presidential Office.
2004: Featured in the National Education Radio's "Arts and Culture Corridor—Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Stone Carving Exhibition" from March to June. Received an honorable mention at the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition (Dream of Craft). Held a solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from October to January 2005.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit the jade carving "Taiwanese Snack - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in the "Face of Sherlock Holmes Exhibition" at the National Museum of the Czech Republic, with exchanges from June to September. Established the "Yu Ning Shi" brand and opened a counter in department stores. Exhibited at the Pacific Sogo Department Store's "Craft Master" exhibition in mid-December.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Craft at Your Fingertips - Applied Crafts for Daily Life" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Art Gallery, hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2008: His work "Japanese-style Nigiri Sushi" was selected for the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition."
2012: "Half-Thought" received an honorable mention in the Traditional Craft category at the Ministry of Culture and National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition." "Tranquil Mountain and Water" received an honorable mention in the Craft category at the 21st Sanying Award in Tainan City.
2013: Invited to exhibit in the Master Jade Carving Area at the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Exchange Gathering of Masters" at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2016: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit three works – "Japanese-style Nigiri Sushi," "Handmade Small Mochi," and "Moment of Leaping" – at the Presidential Office Art Gallery's "Gathering Around the Stove - Sustainable Craft Exhibition."
2017: "Remnants of Autumn Lotus" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan Arts Festival in Taoyuan City.
2018: Held the solo exhibition "Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Carving 30 Years - Continuation of Culture" at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Bringing Prosperity" at the Presidential Office Art Gallery's "Feast · Happiness" exhibition from January to June.
2020: "Joyful Heart, Brilliant Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition" was jointly held at the Hsinchu County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau (July 29 - August 16, 2020) and the Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (October 6, 2020 - February 28, 2021).
2021: Exhibited "Japanese-style Nigiri Sushi" at the "Creative Regeneration Green Craft" exhibition hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute from October to November.
"Handmade Small Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured at the Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan Ximen Store, and Taichung Store.
