Antique Dutch copper 'doofpot' /ash bucket

Antique Dutch copper "doofpot" (ash bucket). This item was used in houses with wood or coal stoves. When it was time to extinguish the fire, the remaining wood or coal was put in the "doofpot." As the pot was airtight, the smouldering pieces would soon extinguish so that they could be used again. This original and large piece is in fair condition with oxidation and subsequent discoloration due to aging as well as some dents due to usage. One of the feet is slightly loose and so is the knob on top of the lid. The photographs are a part of the description. Dimensions: 49cm height x 32cm diameter Weight: 4.4kg
