Depending on the size and shape of the wood, small fragments that cannot be used for furniture are left behind. We cannot always make effective use of every single offcut produced during furniture making. Trying to create small accessories from tiny offcuts makes it difficult to safely secure the material to machinery, which poses safety risks during machining. Furthermore, since the processing method must be adjusted for each individual offcut, it takes more time and effort than one might imagine. We crafted this simple design to make that way of living possible. By intentionally combining different species of wood, the deep hue of the black walnut and the gentle tone of the Japanese cherry act as accents to one another. Because of the simple structure, the finish highlights the unique grain and color differences inherent to each wood. It is finished with walnut oil.
