This glaze is paired with a fine-grained, smooth white clay that enhances its clarity. This shallow bowl is crafted by combining these two elements. We aimed for a gentle form with simple yet soft curves. With its considerable depth, this shallow bowl is highly functional, capable of holding dishes with plenty of sauce or broth. Perfect for stews like pot-au-feu or oden, and hearty dishes such as curry, loco moco, or taco rice. It also serves beautifully for casually presenting stir-fries or simmered dishes. Enjoy its versatility in various culinary applications. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. The hand-application of glaze results in natural drips and variations in color intensity. While it may not possess the uniformity of mass-produced items, you can appreciate the unique colors and atmosphere that only handmade pieces can offer. The piece you receive will be the exact item shown in the product images. The base of the bowl has been sanded to ensure it is gentle on your table surfaces. Please note that this glaze is designed to develop crackles (kannyu) over time. We have color-corrected the images to be as close as possible to the actual product. However, this particular blue is challenging to capture accurately in photos, and the actual color may lean slightly more towards a yellow-green than what is depicted. (This variation can also depend on the light source and your device's display settings, so we cannot definitively state it will always appear yellow-green.) We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding. I explore various glazes and clays, constantly seeking the best combinations, and create a diverse range of pottery in both color and form. To prevent this, we apply a food-safe sealant to all our pottery before shipping, so there is no need for initial soaking (me-zome). This sealing process requires 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the sealant applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - The color may appear lighter and whiter under fluorescent or morning light, and more yellowish under evening light or warm incandescent bulbs. - Product images are taken and edited to be as true to life as possible, but colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and ambient lighting.
