This is followed by further settling and precipitation (the water-grinding purification method). The bottom cinnabar mud is air-dried and then pressed using ancient methods. Horizontal cross-sections still reveal uniformly fine mineral luster particles within. **「Emperor Sand」** **The color leans towards a brighter red, with a more lustrous hue and higher hardness.** The production method involves multiple stages of purification from natural cinnabar ore, including **crushing/grinding/magnetic separation/water-grinding/high polishing**, followed by pressing using ancient methods. Emperor Sand has almost no visible mineral luster on the surface, but has it internally. Because cinnabar is red, mostly a deep red, "朱" (zhū) also means red. Later, "丹砂" (dānshā, red sand) was called cinnabar.
