It was a chance to rediscover the joy of living mindfully and to witness the ancient capital's deep respect for and innovation in traditional crafts. What captivated me most were the coin purses meticulously made by kimono artisans. Mr. Nakamura, a gentle and distinguished gentleman, has retired from the kimono-making profession but continues to design coin purses using the kimono fabrics he has cherished throughout his life. 【Premium Kimono Tsumugi Series】 The dedication of a lifelong artisan is evident in every detail and material choice. This piece features the rare 'Oshima Tsumugi'. This exquisite kimono fabric from Oshima Amami, Japan, is created by first dyeing the silk threads with mineral mud before weaving them into cloth. The intricate process involves twenty to thirty steps, and today, only a handful of artisans carry on this tradition, making it increasingly scarce. It is exclusively used for high-end kimonos in Japan. - 'Oshima Tsumugi' is characterized by its understated yet rich patterns with low saturation, offering a timeless appeal that perfectly complements modern everyday wear. Carrying this bag adds a touch of vintage yet chic style, unlike the often overly bold patterns of common fabric bags, and you won't have to worry about matching someone else's. Even with small accessories, using superior materials reveals a discerning taste in fashion. At first, I was drawn solely by its appearance, not paying much attention to the premium kimono fabric or the exquisite clasp, which I took for granted. However, after receiving and using it, I truly understood its value. With every opening and closing, I can't help but marvel, growing more fond of it each time.
