I suspect not many people realize that many brands have exclusive, licensed products made specifically for the Japanese market. And the best part is, they're incredibly affordable!
If you've traveled to Japan, you'll know that department stores are filled with unique souvenirs and specialty items. I'm not talking about the food and treats on the B2 level, of course!
On the upper floors, you'll find specially licensed products from various brands, exclusive to Japan. These are items you won't even find through the brand's main sales channels.
Take Celine, for example. In earlier times, they licensed several Japanese textile companies to produce a range of textile products, including various home goods – incredibly practical items.
And the prices were remarkably friendly, making them perfect for both gifting and personal use, a far cry from the price positioning of the brand's boutiques and specialty stores!
However, Celine's licensing agreement with these Japanese companies has long since ended, so even if you visit Japan now, you won't be able to find these items anymore...
These are Japan-exclusive items that have been completely discontinued for many years, much like vintage bags. Each one is a rare find, and once it's gone, it's gone!
A little side note: the reason for these licensed products back then was that luxury brands began to look towards Asia. Japan's economy was booming, and it was likely the most "affluent" market in Asia at the time. So, as many brands entered Japan, they made various arrangements to cater to the local culture.
The Japanese gift-giving culture is incredibly widespread. If you watch Japanese dramas, you'll know that people in Japan give gifts frequently – it's a common practice, and the more gifts, the better.
Japan already had many factories producing products that met various gifting needs, with highly mature technology and unique products.
Therefore, many brands signed licensing agreements with Japanese companies for them to produce these items independently. These gift sets were typically only sold in department stores and were very popular in Japan, primarily due to their attractive presentation. Having a "brand name" made them presentable enough to give to relatives, friends, or superiors.

⚐⚑˒˒ CELINE large square handkerchief and pouch set, complete with a small storage pouch, a square scarf, and the original gift box with ribbon!
This small drawstring pouch is a rare find among similar items. And it's brand new, complete with the original cylindrical gift box, ribbon, and outer packaging!
Having the original gift box is exceptionally rare; usually, they've been opened and are missing the box. This one includes the outer box and ribbon!
The small pouch itself is designed as a cute, mini drawstring bag, with a buckle on the cord that allows it to be carried by hand. However, please note the very small size.
The intended use for these small gift set pouches is for storing small items like cosmetics, jewelry, loose change, cardholders, keys, or small papers.
This particular pouch can be modified by adding a clasp and attaching a chain or strap to be used as a shoulder bag or crossbody mini bag. It's small but quite practical.
If you require modifications, I can do them for free. Please message me before placing your order. Otherwise, it can be carried by hand.
The small gold ring on the pouch is exquisite, shining brightly with absolutely no flaws. The CELINE logo is clearly engraved on the ring.
It's an excellent value gift for birthdays or special occasions. The black and red gift box features a gold-stamped CELINE logo and a ribbon – it's absolutely stunning.
Plus, the box is transparent, making it a beautiful display piece even when just sitting there – super exquisite! (Anyone who receives this will surely be overjoyed!)
Regarding handkerchiefs, I believe most people in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan only used them more frequently in childhood, switching to tissues as they grew older.
However, the Japanese handkerchief culture (yes... it has evolved from an item into a culture) is deeply ingrained from childhood to adulthood and has never changed!
In Japan, whether it's children, adults, or the elderly, a handkerchief is a basic necessity in their bags, due to various factors, likely including environmental consciousness, dignity, and politeness.
You can find more details online; I won't elaborate too much. In short, if you live in Japan, the only people without a handkerchief are likely non-Japanese.
Japanese handkerchiefs are produced with extremely high technical skill. Don't be fooled by their small size; upon closer inspection, you'll be amazed by the exquisite details!
For example, there's double-sided embroidery in two colors, hidden embroidery, the use of subtly different shades of the same color thread to create a shimmering effect, gold and silver foil stamping, white and colored foil stamping, and more.
There are also many material options: some are soft cotton, gentle enough for a baby, while others are made of breathable linen, perfect for summer and quick-drying.
The patterns are not only intricate, but the details are such that even after many washes, the colors won't fade, and even the foil stamping won't lose its sheen!
Many are so beautiful they resemble works of art, perfectly suitable for framing and displaying as decoration. The most important point is that many of these techniques are unique to Japan.
Even the high-end silk scarves produced in Europe by the brand today don't have as many intricate details as a single small Japanese handkerchief.
But you might ask: "What am I supposed to do with a handkerchief if I don't use it for cleaning?" The uses for a handkerchief extend far beyond wiping your mouth or sweat. They can be used as decorative accessories! You can hang them on your bag or tie them around it. This is a great habit for luxury and pre-owned bags, especially vintage ones. The greatest value of a vintage item isn't its price but its increasing rarity in the world. Therefore, using them should also involve a habit of protection.
Hanging one on your bag adds a small decorative touch, and tying one around the strap can directly protect the most frequently used and easily worn areas, keeping them clean and preventing accidental damage.
I personally experienced this once: at a workshop, the person next to me accidentally spilled dye on my bag strap. Fortunately, I had the habit of tying a scarf around my strap!
My bag was safe that day, though the ink stain on the handkerchief was permanent... but I'd much rather it be on the handkerchief than on the strap!
You can also use a handkerchief to adjust the length of an overly long strap (I have details on how to tie it). My most common use, however, is for home decor.
A long time ago, I developed the habit of using large scarves or handkerchiefs to cover idle decorative items at home, mainly to prevent dust. My home gets very dusty, and anything left in one spot for two days will accumulate a thin layer of dust. When the cover cloth gets dusty, I just take the whole piece to the wash, which is convenient.
Covering items with plain fabric or handkerchiefs can look a bit odd (like an abandoned house with cloths draped everywhere)... so I've always had the habit of using scarves to cover things around the house.
The uses for handkerchiefs and scarves are truly endless and very personal. In any case, having one or two extra small accessories isn't a problem.
When folded into small squares and placed in your bag, they don't take up much space, and they can be used in any unexpected situation – perfect for wiping your bag or yourself on a rainy day.
❍ The photos are taken by the owner under natural sunlight. Lighting may vary depending on the time of day, and color variations are possible.
Each handkerchief has individual details and unfolded views, but I cannot display them all here. Please message me to request them. Due to the unique nature of pre-owned orders, all sales are final, with no returns or exchanges. Therefore, please examine the photos carefully before placing your order.

The main reason I love pre-owned bags is that the materials from older eras are vastly superior to those in modern new items.
In the past, most pre-owned items were handmade, imbued with the warmth of craftsmanship rather than mass production.
The skill of artisans was definitely much more refined than machines, just as everyone appreciates products handcrafted by skilled artisans!
However, today, the vast majority of processes are done by machines with minimal human assembly, losing the meticulousness of the past.
The simplest and most direct way to see this is to compare the detailed patterns of newly released vintage-inspired designs with the true vintage patterns from older eras. The level of detail in the monogram patterns alone is entirely different. If you love monograms, you must seek out pre-owned items! Truly!
In terms of style, older designs were more simple, timeless, and enduring. Many new designs today are actually reproductions of older styles.
However, new items are priced higher than their vintage counterparts. New designs are typically based on older models, with added details or design modifications.
The final product often ends up being more complex (or strange...) than the older versions. I believe as we grow older, we all come to understand one thing: the simpler, the more enduring! As we age, our clothing choices often return to basic styles because the more fundamental, the more versatile.
The quality of materials in older items is also superior to newer ones. If you understand leather, you'll see it immediately: the materials used in new items are mostly inferior to those in older ones.
This is mainly because the cost of high-quality raw materials is too high today, and their availability is not as abundant as before; Earth's resources are dwindling!
Furthermore, brands back then didn't have the "ubiquitous" presence of numerous branches like they do now... The clientele mostly had a certain income level and high expectations for the finished products. There was no "fast fashion culture" back then; a bag was expected to be used for many years.
The difference between new and old eras is clearly visible in the hardware. The hardware on many new items oxidizes and discolors after just one or two years of use, but older models typically do not. Besides the high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship, the hardware in earlier eras was plated with real K gold!
It's worth mentioning that Chanel Vintage is expensive for a reason; many of its clasps and chains contain real gold, certified by gold merchants!
Therefore, even vintage bags from as early as the 60s and 70s, if well-preserved, can still shine brightly today. As for the new models available now, from what I know of the brands, none of their hardware contains K gold anymore, making them prone to oxidation.
Many people say buying vintage bags is a form of investment, as they rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. This is because well-preserved pre-owned bags are becoming increasingly rare, and each one that disappears reduces the available stock. Remember, each of these is a discontinued item. The number that exists in the world is finite, so they will only become fewer, more expensive, and harder to find.
Moreover, many brands increase their prices periodically, and each increase drives up the prices in the pre-owned market.
Or, if a brand releases a "reissue," the reference or similar styles from the vintage era will see a sharp price increase!
Additionally, with the recent trend of K-pop and J-pop celebrities using vintage items, once a particular style is seen on a celebrity, its price can skyrocket. This is because, for a period, many people will frantically search for that style or a similar alternative, causing the prices of those few items to multiply...
Therefore, vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy now; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's a truth in the vintage world...).
This is my personal experience; I regret not acquiring many series earlier... I can no longer find them, and even if I do, the price is astronomical...
But the problem is, even knowing the price is astronomical, you're forced to buy because waiting for the next one will only mean a higher price (unless the condition is poor).
I'm often asked about bag maintenance (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I'll include detailed care instructions on a small note inside the bag, so don't worry.
My personal habit is to give them a polish when I organize my closet during seasonal changes (so each seasonal change is a major undertaking... |||).
Actually, pre-owned bags aren't that troublesome. When you're new to it, you just need to get into the habit of regular maintenance and cherishing your bag. Once you form the habit, it's not difficult.
The materials of pre-owned bags are inherently excellent. As long as you don't use them roughly and preserve them properly, they can easily last another ten years and be passed down to your daughter!
Every pre-owned bag I collect is one I genuinely love, so I hope you will love it too and be able to preserve it for years to come ☪︎ *.。
☾︎.*·̩͙ If you're interested in purchasing, please feel free to message me for details. I'm happy to answer any questions. Pre-owned items are sought by those who appreciate their unique value and find them through serendipity ⸜❤︎⸝.
