Flowers bloom from the axils of the tubercles, about 1.5 cm in diameter, with yellow petals and yellow stamens and pistils. They are odorless, opening at noon and closing at 5 PM. Growth rate is relatively fast, accelerating in the second year for seedlings. Mammillaria duwei has fuzzy areoles. The body develops prominent small nipples, each topped with various small spines, some feathery, some insect-like. They are small and incredibly cute. | Light & Watering | In summer, enhance ventilation and provide adequate shade to prevent sunburn from intense direct sunlight. Place in locations with ample light, such as windowsills or balconies. Water approximately once a week in summer. In dim indoor conditions or prolonged rainy spells, supplement with bright plant lights. Ensure proper drainage during the rainy season to prevent root rot. Avoid water accumulation in the concave and convex parts of the plant, which can lead to rot. Water about once every two weeks from spring to autumn. Winter is a dormancy period, so keep the soil dry and reduce watering. Extend watering to once a month. During cold snaps, move indoors for warmth and protect from cold winds. Place in a sunny spot and reduce watering frequency. Maintain an indoor temperature above 7°C for safe overwintering. | Soil | You can choose a succulent-specific potting mix, or prepare a mix of peat moss and perlite at a 1:1 ratio. Add an appropriate amount of general-purpose organic granular fertilizer. Refrain from fertilizing during high temperatures and winter. Avoid splashing the plant with fertilizer or water.
