**◈ A Word from the Designer**
Carefully selected natural amber (beeswax), cloisonné (enamel), and various gemstones are meticulously woven into a 108-bead bracelet.
The amber boasts an elegant and beautiful hue, harmonizing with the concept of the five elements' colors. Featuring a primary pendant of pink tourmaline ruyi, it is adorned sequentially with precious gemstones such as Nanhong, turquoise, aquamarine (meander pattern), lapis lazuli, and charoite, alongside white crystal. Each piece is unique and extraordinary, with bright, righteous tones and a subtly elegant demeanor. When worn, it emanates a gentle and comforting energy.
**This is a one-of-a-kind piece, awaiting its fortunate and prosperous owner. ^^**
**This design meticulously incorporates several high-end gemstones. For detailed explanations of the gemstones and the auspicious meanings of the carvings, please refer to the descriptions below. ^^**
**Amber (beeswax) is an organic gemstone with low hardness. Therefore, the bead holes are designed to be small for durability. It is normal for the elastic cord to show slightly when worn; please gently guide it back into place, avoiding forceful pulling. Precious gemstones are worthy of your care and cherishing. ^^**
**A New Concept for 108-Bead Bracelets**
In traditional views, 108-bead bracelets are exclusively for Buddhist practitioners, but that's rather outdated! :p
While 108-bead bracelets do originate from Buddhist scriptures and, due to their length, can be wrapped around the wrist multiple times or worn as a necklace, their materials, styles, and decorative uses have evolved with the times. They are now more fashionable, layered, and versatile. Designers must adapt to user preferences to create unique, customized pieces.
Furthermore, **108 has never been exclusive to Buddhists. Even non-Buddhists can embrace the auspicious meaning of 108 and its multi-layered styling potential.**
We often share with our clients that a 108-bead bracelet is an external object. Whether we are Buddhist or not, chanting scriptures or praying is primarily an inner practice. **We should not be bound or hindered by material possessions, nor confined by the material of the bracelet on our hand, the number of beads, how we hold it, or whether we wear it on the left or right hand.**
When holding prayer beads, the aim should be convenience and freedom. As the "Diamond Sutra" states: "All phenomena are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows; like dew drops and lightning. Thus, they should be contemplated." Bracelets and prayer beads are also phenomena, so one should not be overly concerned with them during use. **Comfort should be the primary consideration.**
**The Origin of 108 Prayer Beads**
108 prayer beads represent 108 types of afflictions. Within the six senses—eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind—each experiences pleasure, pain, and neutrality, resulting in three types of feelings for each. Combined with the three types of perception (good, bad, neutral) for each sense, this totals 18. Further multiplying by the three times—past, present, and future—results in 54. Doubling this to account for both the internal and external aspects leads to 108.
The meaning of 108 afflictions is that sentient beings have 108 kinds of troubles, which can lead to various negative karma. Therefore, they must be eradicated to achieve a state of stillness of body and mind. Wearing prayer beads on the hand serves as a constant reminder to cultivate the compassion of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, maintaining a calm, unhurried, and expansive mindset in any environment.
In Tibetan, prayer beads are called "trangwa," meaning remembrance, recollection, or continuous memory. It also signifies the continuous remembrance of the guru, yidam, dakini, and dharma protectors; and it refers to the guru, yidam, dakini, and dharma protectors continuously remembering us, bestowing siddhis and wisdom.
**Amber**
Amber is an organic gemstone, a fossilized resin from conifers. Its color is gem-like, translucent, and lustrous. Since ancient times, it has been a traditional adornment for nobility, symbolizing nobility, classicism, and wealth.
**Tourmaline**
Tourmaline, also known as "electric stone" or "rainbow gemstone," possesses strong energy. Its colors are vibrant, varied, and highly transparent, making it beloved since ancient times.
Tourmaline comes in a rich spectrum of colors, encompassing all seven colors. Therefore, its energy can correspond to the body's various chakras.
When selecting tourmaline, pay attention to its color and clarity. Most tourmalines exhibit dichroism (co-occurrence of multiple colors); pure single-colored specimens are rare.
**Ruyi**
The words "Ruyi" are easily understood as "as one wishes," signifying the fulfillment of desires.
The Ruyi scepter is formed by a "cloud pattern or Ganoderma lucidum" at the top connected to a long handle, occasionally represented solely by the shape of a Ganoderma or cloud pattern.
The Qing Dynasty's "Record of Alternative Names for Things" states, "Ruyi was formerly a claw stick," implying that "Ruyi" was a back-scratching tool for ancient people (similar to modern back scratchers).
Additionally, "Ruyi" was used by ancient officials attending court to record matters they were to report ("Hù," also known as "Cháo Hù" or "Shǒu Bǎn"), and in warfare, it was used to issue commands like a banner. Thus, Ruyi symbolizes wisdom, power, and auspiciousness.
We often see various Bodhisattvas holding Ruyi scepters:
"Ruyi Guanyin" holds a Ruyi scepter, symbolizing the ability to perceive all things, rescue from danger in times of crisis, avert misfortune, ensure all wishes are fulfilled, and bring peace of mind.
"Manjushri Bodhisattva" symbolizes wisdom. The different implements he holds carry different meanings: a sword signifies cutting through afflictions; a blue lotus symbolizes the purity of wisdom and virtue, unaffected by defilement; and a Ruyi scepter represents wisdom and auspiciousness. Thus, Ruyi also signifies wisdom.
**Nanhong**
Nanhong belongs to agate and was historically called "red jade." Its texture is fine and lustrous. Legend has it that the most authentic Nanhong was produced only in Baoshan, Yunnan, China, and has been completely depleted. Currently, the Nanhong circulating in the market is mostly from Jiangsu and Fujian. Nanhong is also produced in Gansu and Liangshan.
Due to different geological environments, the quality and mineral characteristics of Nanhong agate raw materials vary. Different geological conditions present different appearances. According to color, it can be classified into: Jin Hong (crimson), Rose Red, Vermilion Red, White and Red Material, and Striped Red Material.
**Turquoise**
Turquoise ranges in color from blue and green to light green and yellow. It is one of the oldest gemstones, considered a mystical and protective object in ancient Egypt, Mexico, and Persia. Ancient rulers used turquoise to display their divine authority, political power, and wealth.
Visually, the black veining on the surface of turquoise is called "iron lines," formed by the oxidation of iron elements within the turquoise. Thus, each iron line is a unique gift from nature.
Furthermore, turquoise is graded by its degree of "vitrification." The higher the degree of vitrification, the fewer iron lines, the denser the structure, and the rarer the yield.
**Aquamarine**
Aquamarine is named for its clear blue-green color, reminiscent of the ocean.
Legend has it that mermaids lived in the deep blue sea, adorning themselves with aquamarine and letting the gemstone absorb sunlight to gain mystical power for self-protection. Hence, aquamarine is also called "mermaid stone."
For centuries, sailors navigating the waves have habitually used aquamarine to pray for the sea god's protection and safe voyages. Thus, aquamarine is revered as the "stone of the brave," symbolizing composure, courage, and intelligence.
**Meander Pattern**
The "Meander Pattern" is one of China's typical and ancient geometric designs, representing the aesthetic concept of traditional Chinese decorative art.
The meander pattern is a continuous line, symbolizing "continuous wealth" and eternal prosperity, with rolling fortunes.
The meander pattern has rich forms, encompassing both square and round shapes, with diverse variations. Examples include the single-unit square meander of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the simplified combined type of the Spring and Autumn period, and the positive and negative S-shapes and continuous single-line type of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Each period's "Meander Pattern" incorporates elements of the social culture of its time, with flexible and elegant designs and profound meanings.
**Lapis Lazuli**
Ancient texts record that Chinese people began using lapis lazuli about 5,000 years ago, and Egyptians even earlier, around 8,000 years ago. Chinese emperors of various dynasties used lapis lazuli for sacrificial ceremonies to heaven, as its blue color resembles the sky, and people believed it was a gemstone that could connect with heaven. Egyptians believed it could communicate with the other world and used it accordingly.
The finest lapis lazuli in the world is produced in Afghanistan. Afghan lapis lazuli has a deep and majestic blue color, earning it the reputation of "Imperial Blue."
When selecting lapis lazuli, remember that specimens with a natural distribution of blue, white (calcite), and gold (pyrite) are preferred. As lapis lazuli is formed near the earth's surface, it has many pores and should not be exposed to water for extended periods. It is recommended to maintain it regularly with mineral oil.
**Charoite**
Charoite, also known as "violet dragon crystal," possesses an elegant and pure purple hue, naturally interspersed with white spiral patterns, making it unique and beautiful.
Charoite symbolizes nobility, elegance, and grace, as well as compassion and inclusiveness.
Charoite corresponds to the crown chakra, aiding in dispelling mental confusion, seeing the truth of matters, and cultivating wisdom. It also carries a compassionate, joyful, and humorous spirituality, with warm and charming energy.
Charoite is also a stone of love, service, and altruism. Its effect on the heart chakra is comparable to green gemstones, helping to stimulate unconditional love and a forgiving heart, thereby improving stubbornness and indifference.
**White Crystal**
White crystal is best when clean and transparent, formed through high temperature, high pressure, and billions of years.
Legend has it that Hercules, the bravest hero in Greek mythology, always wielded a shining white crystal shield in every battle. The shield illuminated the heavens and earth brilliantly, filling Hercules with the heroic aura of a triumphant king, and he was bestowed the title "King of the Brave" by Zeus.
Thus, white crystal is the king of crystals, symbolizing power, courage, wisdom, and purification.
**Cloisonné (Filigree Enamel, Blue Firing)**
Cloisonné, scientifically known as copper-chased enamel, originated in the ancient Near East. As early as the 19th century BC, ancient Egyptian pharaohs used it to create necklaces, combining it with gemstone inlays. Later, the Eastern Roman Empire elevated this craft to a very high level. China introduced this technique during the Yuan Dynasty and saw its peak development during the Jingtai reign of the Ming Dynasty, hence its name "Jingtai Lan" (Jingtai Blue).
Exquisite cloisonné products feature lustrous and vibrant colors, a thick and solid base, neat and uniform filigree, and brilliant gilding. They can embody the warmth of jade, the brilliance of jewels, and the delicacy of porcelain. Therefore, the cloisonné craft is intricate and costly.

**◈ About Use and Collection**
1. Natural gemstones possess natural luster and unique textures (minor imperfections such as small black spots, stone lines, ice cracks, cloudiness, mineral inclusions, asymmetry, etc., are natural details). With frequent wear, you may observe subtle color changes in natural gemstones, often making them appear more translucent and captivating – this is also the best form of care.
Natural organic gemstones (such as coral and amber) have low hardness and are not resistant to acids and alkalis. When encountering dirt, avoid using cleaning agents. Simply rinse with clean water and wipe with a soft cloth. You can also use a soft brush dipped in a small amount of mineral oil (like baby oil) for gentle brushing and maintenance.
2. Metal jewelry has a long lifespan, but avoid external damage or strong acids and alkalis that can cause fading.
3. Fabric materials (ribbon, cotton, gauze) are soft and comfortable in texture and have a long lifespan, but avoid high temperatures, external damage, or strong acids and alkalis that can cause fading.
4. For jewelry of any material, when encountering dirt, wipe it with a soft cloth dampened with clean water as appropriate, or use a suitable amount of neutral detergent for suitable materials. After washing, keep it dry as soon as possible.
5. When jewelry is removed, it should be properly packaged and stored, isolating it from excess air to slow down oxidation and discoloration, and avoid overlapping or heavy pressure.
