【Tianqing Clay】
This clay was refined in 2007 and has been aged for 15 years.
The clay has undergone organic aging and has been re-fired to prevent the formation of "flower mud" (uneven firing). This process lowers the sintering temperature of the clay.
The "Yangxian Teapot Series" describes Tianqing clay as:
"Tianqing clay, originating from Lishu (a place name on the east side of Huanglong Mountain in Dingshu Town), turns a dark liver color when fired. It also contains inclusions.
When shaped and fired by the earth's spirit, it reveals various wondrous transformations.
The cyclical flame, heat convection, and exhaust within the traditional plate kiln create localized micro-oxidation and micro-reduction. This causes the clay to undergo more changes during firing. The final water-like sheen will be lighter, retaining a more distinct granular texture. These granules do not fully crystallize at high temperatures, resulting in richer surface layers that scatter light, giving the piece a greater sense of depth.
Although it may not appear as bright as pieces fired in electric kilns initially, with a drier, more understated surface, its ability to absorb tea liquor is exceptionally strong during later use due to the retention of more micropores and granules. The components in the tea will slowly penetrate and deposit, forming a soft, mellow patina with a sense of maturation. The luster is a soft, diffuse reflection, conveying a texture accumulated over time.
【Frequently Asked Questions】
1. How to prepare the teapot before first use?
Clean the inside and outside thoroughly. A dish sponge is recommended; do not use chemical cleaners. Simply rinse with water, and it is ready for use.
2. How to maintain the teapot?
Keep it clean and dry after use to prevent tea stains. Store it in a well-ventilated area. For long-term storage in its box, allow it to air dry naturally for 1-2 months to fully evaporate moisture from the pores; otherwise, it may mold.
3. How to clean tea stains or mold?
Soak with enzyme cleaner.
4. How to properly warm the teapot?
During cold weather or after prolonged disuse, pour 40°C warm water over the inside and outside of the teapot, then fill it, allowing the zisha pores to fully absorb moisture.
5. How to care for pieces with carvings?
For teapots with carved designs, cleaning with a soft brush is recommended.
6. What if the item is damaged during shipping?
Yanhuang Dadi Art fully assumes responsibility for shipping safety. If damage occurs, please contact customer service immediately.
