This organic cotton gauze stole has been naturally dyed with the pods of Cassia tora. Dimensions are approximately 95cm x 186cm (including about 1cm fringe). Weighing just 76g, it’s a light and airy, large-sized stole. Dyed in earth tones, reminiscent of autumn leaves gently swirling in the breeze on an afternoon in fall. The fabric, woven from undyed organic cotton (Chita Momen), which is also used for baby products, has been hand-dyed for this stole. Cassia tora is an annual herb belonging to the legume family. Its dried seeds are known as Ketsumei-shi, a medicinal ingredient used for ailments like digestive issues. We used the elongated pods that carefully enclose these seeds for dyeing. Although a lightweight stole, its generous size allows for a snug wrap that feels softly warm. It's dyed in colors that complement autumnal hues like black and gray. The photos show the fabric slightly stretched due to ironing. When left unironed after washing, it offers a delightfully fluffy texture.
