Handwoven Silk Stole [Saiun*10] Materials: 80% Silk, 20% Wool Size: Approx. 20cm x 140cm (excluding 8cm fringe) This small stole is handwoven using exquisite raw silk sourced from a Nishijin, Kyoto silk yarn wholesaler. The silk is dyed in various colors from its bleached state before being meticulously woven. The design features a plaid pattern created with three colors of silk yarn and wool, initially woven into a large size. It was then felted, shrinking it to about half its original size. As only the wool shrinks and the silk remains unchanged, a unique, bubbly texture emerges. The warp and weft yarns blend to create a rich, multi-dimensional hue. With a fine density of 464 warp threads, and using half-boiled spun silk for the warp, the texture offers a smooth, crisp feel unlike limp silk. Silk stoles possess excellent moisture-wicking, breathability, and heat-retaining properties. Despite its small size, this stole is wonderfully warm and puffy.
