The location of the Pavilion in the Heart of the Lake is Taichung Park, which was opened in the 36th year of the Japanese rule in Meiji. There was an original natural pond in the park that was artificially renovated into a pond. In October 1908, to celebrate the opening ceremony of the entire railway, a pavilion was built in the pond. Prince Kanin Miyazaishito of Japan, who came to Taiwan to preside over the opening ceremony, rested and watched performances in this pavilion. After the war, Zhongshan Park was renamed "Zhongshan Park", the pond was renamed "Riyue Lake", and the pavilion was renamed "Huxin Pavilion". In 1988, the city government used Huxin Pavilion to commemorate the opening ceremony of the transcontinental railway. It has long been a landmark of Taichung City. It is an irreplaceable representative and designated as a city-designated historic site.
