Four-Strand Necklace with Old Afghan Silver, Mizoram Carnelian, Indian Silver Bells, and Antique Orange & Peacock Blue Beads (Turquoise Clasp)

This is a four-strand necklace crafted from a combination of old Afghan silver, Mizoram carnelian, Indian silver bells, and antique orange & peacock blue beads. The prominent top piece features Afghan silver beads from the mid-20th century, each adorned with floral patterns in two locations. Their beautifully worn patina is utterly captivating. (Dimensions of old Afghan silver beads: 2.6 cm length, 0.7 cm width) Flanking the top bead are silver beads from India, also featuring floral motifs on both sides. While their age and silver content are unknown, they are undeniably charming. The orange and peacock blue beads are antique seed beads from India. Their softened texture speaks to a history of being cherished and worn, a testament to their journey from the 19th-20th century. Each bead possesses a unique shape, creating a richly expressive quality. (Bead size: 2-2.5 mm) The perfectly round orange beads are Mizoram carnelian, originating from the Mizoram state in eastern India. These heirloom pieces date back to around the 18th century, showcasing a wonderfully varied color depth and character. As with many antique items, they bear minor imperfections. (Mizoram carnelian size: 0.9 cm diameter) Tiny bells, made of Indian silver and connected to a delicate filigree ring, are incorporated into the design. Please note, the bells themselves do not produce a sound. Indian Pacific beads have been added to the clasp area and above the Mizoram carnelian. These antique beads, known as Indian Pacific beads, are believed to have originated as early as the 2nd century BCE. The specific beads used here were excavated in Indonesia and date back to approximately the 10th century – over a thousand years old! The golden beads are old Orissa brass, rare and ancient beads sourced from the state of Orissa in India. The small Karen silver beads at the clasp are individually stamped. The intricate, hand-stamped details are truly remarkable. ◇ Karen Silver ◇ This silver is crafted by the hill tribes residing in Thailand and Burma. Each piece is handmade, and the silver is considered to be of exceptionally high purity. The clasp features a turquoise stone. (Turquoise size: 1.2 cm diameter) Connected with waxed cord, the necklace will initially feel slightly firm but will soften and become more supple with wear.
