For about two years, I've wished to craft this rough stone into a finished piece during winter. Though the gestation period was longer than anticipated, I'm delighted to finally present it at this time of transition between winter and spring, the most fitting season for this creation. Those who have picked up my pieces featuring various rhodochrosite and other stones at market stalls may have heard my lengthy explanations. Among the minerals I favor that bear the name "branch," Branch Opal possesses a particularly distinctive character. As a type of scenic stone, each Branch Opal I release has been personally selected for its unique landscape. For this main stone, I envision a frozen lake surrounded by snow-covered conifers. Above the lake, shifting clouds and falling snow drift, and as the ice and snow gradually melt into clear water droplets, the approach of spring and the first blossoms become imminent. The transition from winter to spring is interpreted through the pearl chain above, the main stone at the center, the white ghost crystal droplet below, and the floral vine beneath the main stone. The cool white Baroque pearls, silver fragments, and blue flash moonstone evoke a serene palette. However, the lustrous sheen of the pearls subtly hints at the reflection of sunlight, symbolizing celestial phenomena and snowfall. The Branch Opal is, naturally, the heart of this scenery, depicting a hidden lake within a winter landscape. The surrounding frame of the lake is textured with shallow, varied vertical lines, which, along with the branch-like patterns on the main stone, enhance the forest imagery. As the ice and snow begin to melt, the thawing icicles take on the warm hues of sunlight, reflected in the color of this white ghost crystal droplet. This meltwater will once again become the lifeblood of spring, awakening and nourishing new flora and trees, hence the droplet's imagery of flowing over a floral vine—a promise of abundant blooms after the ice and snow. This is the complete story I wished to tell with this piece. The combination of the main stone, accent stones, and chain may never be replicated to recreate this specific landscape.
