Postcard, Beauties on an Outing, Li Gong-lin, Song Dynasty

Collection description This painting is based on Du Fu's poem "The Journey of a Beautiful Lady" and depicts the traveling scenes of ladies from the three kingdoms of Qin, Han and Guo. The woman's body is plump and her forehead and nose are both white. The horses are fat and strong, moving slowly and leisurely. The whole work's figures of figures and horses, hair buns and clothing, as well as the coloring and painting techniques, all have a Tang style. In the late Northern Song Dynasty, the Painting Academy produced "Copy of Zhang Xuan and Mrs. Guo Guo's Spring Outing", the composition of which is very similar to this painting. This painting does not have an author's seal. Later generations may have claimed that this painting was made by Li Gonglin (1049-1106 AD) because he was good at painting people and horses.
