X888:3952 Desert Ironwood (HD High Gloss) - A fountain pen with a rustic, elegant design, perfect balance, and comfortable writing experience. Featuring a substantial barrel with a classic cigar shape, a spring-loaded clip, and gunmetal grey electroplated hardware. This HD High Gloss version of Desert Ironwood showcases the wood's premium quality through meticulous processing. It's easy to maintain, resistant to ink stains and hand sweat, and accentuates the wood's three-dimensional grain. Each pen's unique natural grain pattern ensures a distinct look (premium quality, randomly selected for shipment). The HD High Gloss finish involves applying and polishing transparent lacquer repeatedly, filling the natural pores of the wood until the surface becomes smooth and resilient. This process requires dozens of lacquer applications, resulting in a more even surface, an enhanced writing feel, and a clearer, more pronounced grain. It also makes the pen easier to care for, protecting the wooden body from accidental ink spills. This meticulous finishing process incurs higher costs. Both HD High Gloss and standard finishes offer unique aesthetics, catering to individual tastes. 3952 Lao Shanyáng sincerely presents this pen, appreciating your support. The pen features a screw-on, airtight cap, a perfectly balanced grip section, and a comfortable, elegantly rustic design for writing.
Desert Ironwood is a legume shrub (small tree) that grows exclusively in the desert regions of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Thriving in arid and harsh desert conditions, Desert Ironwood grows slowly, taking centuries to mature into usable timber, with a lifespan that can reach 2,000 years. Plants originating from the desert possess inherent resilience to drought, poor soil, and intense sunlight. Their wood is exceptionally hard, earning the "iron" in its name due to its slow growth and the demanding environment. This density also makes it very heavy, capable of sinking in water. Among local Native American tribes, it was highly valued as a premium material for furniture and exquisite carvings. Internationally, Desert Ironwood is typically used for high-end applications such as custom knife handles, premium handcrafted fountain pens, artisanal crafts, and musical instrument components, symbolizing exceptional quality.

Hand-tuned Calligraphy Nib Care:
1. For calligraphy nibs, it's generally recommended to start by dipping in ink and allowing it to rest for a period before using a converter.
2. If experiencing ink skipping with a converter, check your grip angle. Ensure both iridium points simultaneously contact the paper; avoid writing with one side down. If skipping persists, check the nib for paper fibers or debris.
3. Try filling the pen using the converter's suction mechanism after removing it.
4. Gently rinse the nib. If writing consistently with one iridium point or applying excessive pressure, it can cause misalignment of the iridium points, leading to a height difference that may scratch the paper and accumulate debris in the slit.
5. Calligraphy nibs are created by modifying EF nibs to have a curved tip. Line variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by adjusting the writing angle, utilizing the nib's inherent curvature. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area with the paper, resulting in finer lines. A more slanted angle increases the contact area, producing thicker lines. The ability to write with varying line widths depends on your proficiency and practice.

Note: Regularly wipe and maintain the inside of the pen body and cap. When storing, please avoid leaving the nib pointing downwards for extended periods.
Gentle Reminder: Avoid pressing down on the nib or writing with the nib angled excessively to the left or right (for right-handed users, it's recommended to hold the nib pointing towards the 10 or 11 o'clock position). This can prevent iridium point misalignment, scratching, and ink skipping. Rinse the nib regularly with clean water to prevent ink clogs that may affect writing quality.
