Atelier Taiwan — Helvetica #01

"Helvetica" is a widely used sans-serif typeface for the Latin alphabet, designed in 1957 by Swiss designers Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann. Its simplicity and directness have made it a quintessential representation of modernism in typeface design, and it has become one of the most commonly used fonts globally. Helvetica has been extensively utilized in logos, television, news headlines, and countless trademarks. It was even the default font for Apple's initial iOS 7 and iOS 8 systems. Perhaps most familiar to locals is its use for the English signage (excluding station names) within the Taipei Metro system. This publication introduces the Helvetica typeface in full English, showcasing its most original form through monochrome printing, covering various sizes and weights. Bound with saddle stitching and using lightweight paper, it’s an exceptionally portable reference tool! Atelier Taiwan, a design studio, was founded by veteran graphic designer Mr. Chi-Kai Chen, who hails from Hong Kong and is based in Taiwan. He is self-taught in design and has received numerous international awards. He frequently travels worldwide to participate in design-related activities and exhibitions. His work was exhibited at the ddd gallery in Osaka before 2000, and he served as the visual designer for the 2016 Taipei City of Design. He previously held a special exhibition of postcard collections at Artqpie Library and began designing a selection of notebook paper products under the name "Atelier Taiwan."
