Wang'an Island in Penghu, Taiwan, is a popular nesting ground for Green Sea Turtles! During the intervals between nesting and mating, some sea turtles utilize ocean currents, either by following them or using them as a guide, to travel to feeding grounds. As they ride the currents, sea turtles heading towards their feeding grounds will, much like the Crush family in the movie "Finding Nemo," powerfully swim out of the current towards their destination. There are seven species of sea turtles worldwide, and five of them can be found in Taiwan. Sea turtles prefer warm waters and are capable of long-distance migration, so they can be found in all oceans except the Arctic. Sea turtles lay their eggs on land, so during the nesting season, they undertake long journeys from their feeding grounds to their nesting sites, which are typically their birthplaces.
