[Old Zhu Ni from Xiao Mei Yao] The clay has been aged for 30 years, crafted using ancient methods. The spout is unrefined. Firing temperature: 1160°C, shrinkage rate: 20%. "Xiao Mei Yao" refers to a place name approximately 5000 meters from Huang Long Mountain, not that the teapots were fired in a small coal kiln. As there were several small kilns for bricks, tiles, and pottery in the area, it eventually became known as "Xiao Mei Yao." Zhu Ni from Xiao Mei Yao is rich in oil and has a smooth texture, making it highly adhesive and challenging to work with and fire. It experiences significant shrinkage during forming, drying, and firing, requires a lower firing temperature, and is prone to warping, deformation, and cracking. After firing, the pieces transition from orange-red to a darker red, appearing warm, lustrous, and producing an excellent water color for tea. When hot water is poured over it, it instantly reveals a delicate, captivating red. Brewing tea with this clay results in a bright, lively infusion that releases aroma and enhances sweetness. With long-term use, the color deepens to a rich, warm hue, exuding a profound sense of warmth and approachability.
