Flowing Sky Blue Teacup

Fine-grained white clay that allows the glaze colors to shine. After shaping into a comfortably rounded teacup, a lustrous white glaze was applied to the entire piece, followed by a layer of sky blue glaze. To impart the warm, tactile feel characteristic of pottery, a touch of amber glaze was also layered around the rim. During firing, the glazes melted and mingled, resulting in a beautifully flowing pattern. Its plump and charming form fits perfectly in your hands, the gentle curves of the cup nestling into your palms when held. The interior is primarily white, allowing you to appreciate the natural color of transparent beverages like sencha or hojicha. Beyond tea, consider it for coffee, cafe au lait, soup, or even as a vessel for pudding or jelly. We invite you to enjoy it with your favorite drinks. All pieces are crafted by hand, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, using a small electric kiln and potter's wheel in my home studio. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses a unique character, offering the distinct charm that comes from handmade craftsmanship. The item you receive will be the one shown in the product images. The base of the cup has been carefully sanded to minimize any potential scratching of your table surfaces. I continuously explore new combinations of various glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of pottery in both color and form. To address this, all our items undergo a waterproofing treatment with a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial seasoning (mezoma). This treatment requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer to forgo the sealant treatment, please inform us at the time of purchase. - The glaze colors may appear whiter under natural morning light or white artificial light, and exhibit warmer, more reddish or yellowish tones under evening light or warm-toned lamps. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - Product images are edited and photographed to be as true to the actual item as possible.
