Created primarily with rapidograph technical pens, fine liners, and MT washi tape, using a Mark's scrapbook as the creative canvas. Transforming immediate culinary delights into lasting visual feasts. Draw first, then eat, or draw as you eat: Pineapple cakes, salt and pepper crispy bites, scallion pancakes, mung bean cakes, silken tofu pudding, stinky tofu, bubble tea... and other earthly delights~!! Beyond capturing the appearance and tantalizing essence of food with technical pens and fine liners, I've also sought to express the subtle sensory experiences evoked by food through the washi tape itself. For instance, on the spread for "Salt and Pepper Crispy Bites," the feeling of "salt" translates to hard-edged squares, while "crispy" suggests multiple layers of thin, soft skin with many air pockets. Thus, I chose tape with a similar visual motif to embellish the text. In the table of contents, small, fragmented pieces of washi tape surround the text, subtly conveying the characteristics and imagery of the foods through graphics. "Tiny bubbles on the surface of soy milk and the cup's rim = beige floral patterned tape," "Pineapple cake = yellow square patterned tape," "Scallions = poinsettia patterned tape," "Ice = blue vertical line patterned tape"... and so on. Where possible, I've avoided using words to express feelings!
