While the pottery shard's traditional Japanese pattern is a calming black, it also evokes a floral design. The kiln master meticulously hand-carves each circular piece after applying the Mishima pattern before firing. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragment, allowing the gold to elegantly catch the light from the side, adding a touch of refinement. This piece is created using a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi which uses real urushi lacquer derived from the sap of the lacquer tree, this method utilizes adhesive for bonding.
