(Please do not remove the converter installed in the barrel; this prevents ink backflow into the pen body after writing). Allow time to get accustomed to the nib's characteristics before using the converter to fill with ink. 2. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib that has been ground and adjusted to have a curved, arc-like tip. Line variation is achieved not solely by pressure, but by the angle of the penhold. Utilizing the arc of the nib's tip produces varying line widths. Holding the pen at a more upright angle minimizes the contact area between the nib and the paper, resulting in thinner lines. As the penhold angle becomes more oblique or slight pressure is applied, the contact area increases, producing thicker lines. The ability to write thick or thin depends on your proficiency. (Each nib has a limit to the pressure it can withstand; avoid excessive force to prevent damage or misalignment.
