Crafted from white clay, this soup bowl embodies a rustic charm and a comforting warmth. It has been molded into a plump, rounded shape and finished with tiny, square "ears." A soft, off-white matte glaze has been applied to the entire surface. The slightly shallow and wide form of this soup bowl makes it versatile, serving perfectly for soups or as a communal dish for hot pot meals. It is also ideal for dishes with flavorful broths, such as agedashi tofu or jibu-ni. Embracing its Japanese aesthetic, it can also be used to enjoy traditional sweets like anmitsu or shiratamazenzai. We encourage you to enjoy this bowl with a variety of your favorite dishes. All stages of creation, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously carried out by hand using a small electric kiln and electric potter's wheel in my home studio. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering a distinct charm that comes from being handcrafted. The item you will receive is identical to the one shown in the product images. There are currently two pieces available. Each bowl has subtle variations in glaze coloration and form, with details provided in the final product images. As long as stock permits, you may select your preferred piece. The base of the bowl will be sanded smooth for a pleasant surface contact. Please note that each of these bowls features a few instances of "buku" – small, bubble-like irregularities in the glaze. We kindly ask for your understanding in this regard. Through the use of various glazes and clays, I continually explore new combinations, creating ceramics in a wide range of colors and shapes. These pieces, while similar, are unique, as it's impossible to create exact duplicates. It would bring me great joy if you were to find a piece that truly speaks to you. To address this, we treat all our tableware with a food-safe water-blocking agent before shipping, eliminating the need for an initial soaking. This treatment requires 2-3 days to complete, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement.
