He learned to be silent, to keep his words hidden deep within, and to stand firm even in scarcity. Much like a cactus, unpretentious and quiet, yet living steadfastly in the harshest conditions. Years later, he began to paint. As his brush touched the paper, time seemed to slow. The cactus grove, bathed in the setting sun, was no longer just a solitary existence, but an entire expanse of quiet, resilient life. They maintained their distance from one another, yet collectively faced the same light. A Chuan poured his own past years into his art—the thorns were for protecting softness; the silence, for awaiting the direction of light. "Cactus Grove at Sunset" is not about desolation, but about endurance. Even when the world is arid, even as the sun eventually sets, there is still a choice to stand tall, to absorb the last warmth, and to quietly live out one's own form.
